Budgeting And Credit Cards

It is possible to lose your ability to manage yours finances these days due to credit facilities. You see attractive offers of credit cards pretty much everywhere. Every day when you switch on your tv you’ll see similar ads. When you check your e-mail, they’ll be there, filling up your inbox. Walk into any store, you’ll be tempted with their own cards.

Once you accept offers like these, you will have a tougher time keeping to your budget. Everyone can use very simple household budgeting to avoid getting into debts. The basic principle of budgeting is to make sure that you don’t spend more than you earn. Spending less and make do without certain things isn’t necessarily what budgeting is all about. Unfortunately, most people have no idea about budgeting.

Budgeting helps you to establish more control over your expenses. By controlling your expenses, you will not be in debt. It is alright to possess credit cards provided your expenses are within your budget. Nowadays, you’re given several options to settle your credit card debt.

You could arrange a direct debit between the credit card company and the bank. You can instruct your bank to pay your creditor based a minimum amount as stated on the monthly statement or give a fixed amount every month. If you have done your budgeting properly, why not pay your creditor in full?

What I don’t like about this method is that there is no guarantee that you’ll spend less than the payment you’ve committed to your credit card provider each month. Supposing you spend more than the monthly payment of fixed amount, debt will slowly accumulate. It’s just a matter of time that  you’ve a huge debt to settle.
